Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
Jericho was tightly shut against the Israelites, and the LORD instructed Joshua to have the army and seven priests carrying rams' horns march around the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, they circled the city seven times while the priests blew the horns, and upon Joshua's command, the people shouted, causing the city wall to collapse. The Israelites then charged into Jericho, capturing it and destroying everything in it with the sword, except for Rahab and her family who were rescued by the spies. They burned the city while placing the silver, gold, and bronze and iron articles into the treasury of the LORD's house. Finally, Joshua spared Rahab's household, pronounced a curse on anyone who would rebuild Jericho, and his fame spread throughout the land as the LORD was with him.
